Construction is underway for Oswego's $4.8 million sanitary-sewer project, a pivotal part of the Lake Ontario Resiliency and Economic Development Initiative (REDI). Once completed, this initiative will establish a modern sewer-collection system serving residents and businesses along County Route 89, State Route 104, and Fred Haynes Boulevard.

Designed to benefit approximately 176 users, including homes and businesses, the project will pave the way for future commercial development along Fred Haynes Boulevard. Supervisor Daniel Gurney emphasizes its significance as the town's most substantial infrastructure venture to date, offering far-reaching benefits.

Resilience features prominently, with about 33,000 linear feet of mainline pipe and lateral connections, alongside two primary pumping stations for efficient wastewater transmission to the City of Oswego.

Administered by the New York State Environmental Facilities Corporation, this $4.8 million grant reflects successful collaboration between state and local government. It addresses challenges posed by high lake levels and inadequate subsurface conditions, impacting onsite private treatment systems for local businesses.

Assembly Minority Leader William Barclay praises the project's transformative impact, contributing to a cleaner, more sustainable environment and fostering future economic development. The REDI fund's strategic investment ensures substantial upgrades for the coastline area, enhancing community prosperity.
